Rachel Tepfer Copeland began working professionally in 2003 and has worked with numerous children and families across the nation.
As a Certified Child Life Specialist, she provided support, education, and interventions to children and their families in the hospital during very difficult and traumatic situations. As an Early Intervention Specialist, Rachel provided developmental care to young children with disabilities in their homes and in the community.
Rachel received her BA from Stephen F. Austin State University and her MA from Our Lady of the Lake University in Human Sciences with an emphasis in psychology and education.
Rachel created the bestselling book I Can Be A Superhero During A Lockdown after her own son had a terrifying experience during a lockdown while in preschool. In her search to find a developmentally appropriate children's book teaching lifesaving safety skills for kids of all abilities she found none, so Rachel decided to create her own.
The book quickly became a best-seller, and multiple families, teachers, and mental health professionals requested follow up books to help children learn other important lifesaving safety skills. Rachel set out to create the first and only safety books geared to children of all abilities
Rachel's books are now a part of curriculums across the United States. Rachel has worked closely with safety specialists and professionals across the world and continues to advocate for developmentally appropriate safety protocols for children of all abilities in every school. Rachel and her husband live in Texas with their three sons.
